Eko Nugroho (b. 1977) is an internationally-renowned contemporary artist based in Yogyakarta. His works are deeply anchored in both local traditions and urban environment and his trademark consists of a new visual language where political messages are playfully intertwined with appropriated aesthetics of street art, graffiti, and comics. This year, Eko Nugroho will bring two of his works to Art Jakarta Spot, a manual embroidery work ‘Moving Landscape’, along with sculpture, ‘Happy to be Alienated’. Presented by Arario Gallery, these works will be exhibited in Art Jakarta Spot, our programme to show exceptional works in the public areas of the fair for the enjoyment and appreciation of our visitors.
