Uji “Hahan” Handoko Eko Saputro (b. 1983) is an artist based in Yogyakarta, Indonesia whose practice is based on observations and critique regarding his socio political environments.
For Hahan, 1997 is an important year where the first wi-fi technology was launched. This discovery has a very wide impact on our lives. We used to be indifferent about new technologies, but that changed little by little caused by our surrounding who keeps actively consuming the internet. Inevitably, the internet becomes a basic need that must be met. There is a cultural shift that comes from the habits that were taught continuously and repeatedly. Freedom of exploration can be supplemented by bonds that form dependency patterns. Therefore, now life without the internet is impossible.
